How we make money
At ETFLens, transparency matters. Here is exactly how ETFLens is funded and what we do, and don't, do.
Who we are
ETFLens is an Australian financial information service providing research, data tools and educational content about exchange-traded funds (ETFs) listed on the ASX.
ETFLens does not hold an Australian Financial Services (AFS) Licence. We are not licensed to provide personal financial advice. The information and tools on this site are general in nature and do not take into account your individual financial situation, objectives or needs.
Before making any investment decision, you should consider whether the information is appropriate for your situation and consider seeking advice from a licensed financial adviser.
What we do

Provide plain-English summaries of publicly available ETF data

Provide personal financial advice tailored to your situation

How we are funded
ETFLens is funded through two sources. We disclose both fully.
1. Subscription fees
Pro tools (Portfolio Builder, Portfolio Snapshot, ETF Switch Calculator, Income Estimator, CGT & Cost Base Calculator, distribution alerts, extended Stock X-Ray and CSV export of filtered ETF lists) are available for $19/month or $119/year. This is our primary source of revenue. Free research features, ETF detail pages, compare, browse with screener filters, overlap checker, distribution calendar, Stock X-Ray for up to 2 ETFs, ETF Watchlist (save ETFs with a free account), Fee Analyser and franking calculator, are and will remain free.
2. Referral commissions
ETFLens may earn a commission if you open a brokerage account through a referral link on this site. (No referral partnerships are currently active, this disclosure will be updated if any are established.) This commission is paid by the brokerage, not by you, and does not affect the fee you pay or the information we provide.
Referral links are clearly labelled on the site and are accompanied by a commission disclosure. We do not recommend any specific brokerage, we only disclose that it exists as a place where you can buy ETFs.
This referral relationship is structured as a “mere referral” under Corporations Regulations 7.6.01AB and does not constitute financial product advice.
What we don't receive
Payments from ETF providers or fund managers to feature, promote or rank their products
Advertising revenue of any kind
Payments to include or exclude any ETF from our research
Commissions from ETF issuers for user purchases
Data we collect
Portfolio data: Data you enter into Pro tools (ETF tickers, dollar amounts) is processed in your browser session and used only to generate your results. It is not stored on our servers unless you have an account and explicitly save it.
Email addresses: Collected when you create an account or subscribe to ETF alerts and product updates. Used solely to notify you when ETF data (fees, holdings, yields) is updated. We do not sell email addresses or use them for advertising.
Analytics: We use anonymised analytics to understand how the site is used. No personally identifiable information is used in analytics.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about any aspect of ETFLens, please contact us at hello@etflens.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may wish to seek independent legal or financial advice. For complaints relating to privacy or the handling of your personal information, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
