QOZ takes a different approach to Australian shares. Instead of weighting by market cap, it weights by fundamental business metrics like revenue, dividends, and book value. The result is less concentration in companies trading at high price multiples and more exposure to value-oriented stocks. Historically the RAFI methodology has tracked alongside cap-weighted indices over full market cycles, with periods of higher and lower returns. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns. At 0.35% the fee is higher than VAS and A200, and the methodology produces a portfolio that differs from cap-weighted peers with more energy and materials weight.
